DEADLINE EXTENDED: MARTA ARTBOUND ANNOUNCES CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR ENGLISH AVENUE NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT 

ATLANTA - The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) public art program Artbound, in collaboration with the Atlanta Department of City Planning (DCP), Westside Future Fund, and Living Walls, has extended the deadline on the call for artists and designers for the commission of four separate outdoor installations in the English Avenue neighborhood including intersection crosswalks, two bus shelters and a mural. These artistic projects aim to celebrate the cultural identity of the neighborhood through a fusion of arts and infrastructure enhancements. 

WHAT:          CALL FOR ARTISTS: English Avenue neighborhood

WHO:            All metro Atlanta artists are encouraged to apply.

WHERE:        Four separate outdoor installations in the English Avenue neighborhood: 

  • “Yellow Store” Mural (493 James P. Brawley Dr. NW)
    • Applicants must have experience painting at a large scale, outdoor work, teamwork, time management, and collaboration. Prior mural experience is preferred.

  • Northwest Bus Shelter (763 Cameron Madison Alexander Blvd. NW)
    • Applicants must have experience in digital design using industry-standard tools and software.

  • Southwest Bus Shelter (771 Cameron Madison Alexander Blvd. NW)
    • Applicants must have experience in digital illustrations, sculpture, industrial design, architecture, and other 3-D design.

  •   Crosswalk Mural (Intersection of Cameron Madison Alexander Blvd. NW, and James P. Brawley Drive)
    • Applicants must have experience in creating digital illustrations or designs for large format printing. Crosswalk fabrication will be contracted externally.

One percent of MARTA’s annual budget is allocated for its Artbound program which was developed to enhance the ridership experience through visual and performing arts.
